Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 package Wellshire Bacon Bits

Coating

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/2 package Wellshire Bacon Bits

Directions

Reduce the Apple Cider

  • Stirring occasionally, simmer the apple cider in a small saucepan over low heat until you’re left with about 1/2 cup. Set aside to cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray donut pan with non-stick spray, or grease/flour pan. Set aside.

Make the Donuts

  • Whisk the dry ingredients, spices, and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Whisk the melted butter, egg, sugars, milk, and vanilla extract together. Pour into the dry ingredients, add the reduced cider, and whisk everything together until smooth and combined. Batter will be slightly think. Add half the bacon bits, and stir again.
  • Spoon the batter in to the donut cavities. Sprinkle some of the remaining bacon bits on top.
  • Bake for 10-11 minutes or until the edges and tops are lightly browned. You’ll know the donuts are baked when the cake springs back when you touch it. Cool donuts for 2 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.

Coat the Donuts

  • Combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon together in a medium bowl. Brush both sides with melted butter, and roll the donut in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Sprinkle extra bacon bits on top. Serve warm.
