Featured Recipe: Wellshire Ham & Cheese Sliders
If there’s one recipe that works for just about any occasion, it’s ham and cheese sliders. These bite-sized sandwiches are warm, cheesy, slightly buttery, and extremely easy to make. Perfect for a lunchbox, a potluck, or simply making a meal out of movie night, they never last long!
Ingredients
1 package (12 count) sweet dinner rolls
8 ounces Wellshire ham, thinly sliced
6 slices Swiss cheese
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)
1 teaspoon dried minced onion (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a baking dish.
Without separating the rolls, slice the entire sheet in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in the baking dish.
Layer the Applewood Smoked or Black Forest deli ham evenly over the rolls, then top with Swiss cheese. Place the top half of the rolls back on.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried minced onion. Brush or spoon the mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, until the tops are golden and the cheese is melted.
Slice into individual sliders and serve warm.
Make Lunchmeat Sliders Your Own
Want to switch things up? Try swapping Swiss for cheddar, provolone, or pepper jack. Add a layer of Wellshire Oven Roasted Turkey Breast for a two-meat slider, or tuck in crispy Wellshire Thick Cut Bacon for an extra savory bite. For a sweet and tangy twist, spread a thin layer of fig jam or honey mustard on the bottom buns before adding the ham.
These sliders can also be assembled ahead of time. Just cover and refrigerate them, then add the butter topping right before baking.
More Easy Lunchmeat Ideas
Sliders are just the beginning. With a few Wellshire favorites in your fridge, you can create quick lunches all week long.
Turkey Club Pinwheels
Spread cream cheese over a large flour tortilla, then layer with smoked turkey breast, crispy turkey bacon, spinach, and thinly sliced tomato. Roll it up tightly, slice into rounds, and secure with toothpicks if needed. Pinwheels are perfect for lunchboxes, picnics, and party trays.
Bacon, Turkey, and Avocado Wraps
For a filling, fresh lunch, wrap oven roasted turkey breast, cooked bacon bits, sliced avocado, lettuce, and a drizzle of ranch in a tortilla. It’s quick to make and easy to eat on the go.
Ham and Cheese Lunch Boxes
Skip the sandwich altogether and go for a snack-style lunchbox. Roll Wellshire Maple Ham around cheese sticks and serve with crackers, grapes, cucumbers, and a few pretzels. Kids can have fun making their own meals, while parents will enjoy the ease of the no-cook meal.
Grilled Ham and Cheese Melts
Few things beat a warm, golden grilled cheese. Add Wellshire’s Virginia Brand Uncured Deli Ham and your favorite cheese between two slices of buttered bread, then cook in a skillet until crisp and melty. Pair with tomato soup for a cozy lunch on cooler days.
Sausage and Pepper Sandwiches
If you’re feeling a little hungrier, slice up some smoked turkey kielbasa and brown it in a pan with freshly cut peppers and onions. Heap it into a toasted hoagie roll with some melted provolone on top for a filling lunch. Watching your carbs? Try keto bread, a low-carb tortilla, or eat it plain instead.
