Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 package Wellshire Bacon Bits

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease and flour a baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the sugar and butter until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses, mix well.
  4. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt until well blended. Add the dry mixture to creamed mixture in small increments and blend on low speed.
  5. Lastly, add the water and bacon bits. Transfer to baking pan.
  6. Bake 45-50 minutes in the oven, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool and top with icing and more bacon bits!
