Is it even fall if you haven’t had a fall flavored donut? We love a good apple cider or cinnamon donut, but here at Wellshire we’re fans of Maple Bourbon Bacon Donuts! Full of fall flavor, these donuts are the perfect way to enjoy Maple Bourbon Bacon in a new way.

Ingredients

Donut Toppings

  • 1 package Wellshire Maple Bourbon Bacon
  • 2 cups maple syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar optional

Donuts

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Follow instructions to cook bacon. Once it is cooked completely and cooled, cut into bite sized pieces.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine bacon and maple syrup and mix. Set aside. (Note, you only need about half of the package of bacon but can use as much as you’d like!)
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, flour, sea salt, baking powder, pure vanilla extract, cooking oil, milk, and egg. Mix together to form donut batter.
  4. Heat Donut maker to appropriate setting, and spray with cooking oil. Pour batter into donut maker, close lid. Cook until batter has a donut/cake-like consistency (about a minute). You could also use a donut cooking tray and oven if you’d like.
  5. Once donuts are cooled, cover each one with your maple bacon mixture. You can sprinkle extra brown sugar on top if you’d like.
